Good Bye Hershey

Today was a sad day for our family. Our labrador retriever, Hershey, that we have had since he was 6 weeks old died. He lived a long 12 1/2 years with us and was a very good dog. We always joked about the fact that we had Hershey longer than we had Nick! Hershey moved out here from Atlanta with us when he was just a puppy. Hershey was a great watchdog and always made us feel safe. He will be greatly missed and we look forward to the day we can watch him play "wild dog" again. We love you and will miss you Hershey!

Beautiful Snow

The weather has been a little warmer here so we have had rain the past few days. Last night the rain turned to snow but everything was already wet so the snow stuck in the trees. It was beautiful and Brandon went out last night and took some pictures. We ended up getting almost a foot of snow. This morning all my car doors were frozen closed! We had to pour hot water on them to get them open. Have a warm Monday!

Basketball Saturday

Our life now converts to the latest sport - basketball! Brandon plays on two league teams and his ward ball (church) team and Nick plays on his league team. Dan and his friend Mike coach Nick's team and Brandon also is a referee for the 4th, 5th and 6th grade boys for the masters league on Saturdays. He actually refs Nick's (and Dan's) games and yes, that does get a little testly around our house!! I spend a lot of time driving to practices and sitting on bleachers and cheering them all on! We have some sort of basketball everyday but Sunday! Basketball is fun plus the best part is it is inside where it is warm!! Have a great Monday! Nick is in these pictures he is just always behind someone! Look for the big size 9 black shoes - that is Nick!

Summer Fun - and Warm!

I was going through all our pictures and saw these cool ones from last summer. Besides the fact that they are amazing it also does me good to see pictures of no snow and warm!! Nothing like warm summer evenings, sunsets and trampolines!

Christmas Break, Finally!

One of the reasons I have put off doing our Christmas blog is I can't find all our pictures! My mom and dad flew out from Atlanta on Christmas Eve and stayed for a week - the longest we have ever been able to get them to visit us! I have a feeling most of the pictures were taken by my dad but here are the few I have. We had so much fun having them to hang out with for a whole week!
One of the great things was the snowstorm we got while they were here. It doesn't snow a whole lot in Atlanta and my mom and dad got to experience a whopper of a storm! We ended up with about 1 1/2 feet by the time it was all over. It was really fun on Christmas night to all pack up in our SUV and go for a night drive in all the snow. Of course by the next day the roads were clear and we just had a fun week hanging out, going out to eat, seeing the movie Australia (which was wonderful!!) and enjoying being together! They even got to see Brandon play in a couple of basketball games during a ward ball tournament that was held.We did drive up the canyons a couple of times to get some good snow pictures and there was A LOT of snow!! I love this picture of my mom and dad - look how deep that snow is!

Last night was so incredible!! We went over to the J's and watched the Sugar Bowl and watched the Utah Utes BEAT the Alabama Tide with a final score of 31-17. What an amazing game!! Now let's see if the guys who vote do the right thing and make Utah #1 - the ONLY undefeated division one college football team. Go UTES!!

A Laid Back New Year Day

Nick wanted to build a blanket fort today while we were watching football games. He was getting frustrated so Dan and Brandon stepped in to help. It turned out pretty good! The plan is apparently to sleep in it tonight - my only question, what blankets will they use to keep warm??By the way - Happy New Year!!! And congrats to the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!!) for winning the Capital One Bowl today! It was a fun game to watch. Now we get ready for THE big game tomorrow - Utah vs. Alabama in the Sugar Bowl!! GO UTES!!
