Fathers and Sons

Dan and Brandon went up a couple of weekends ago to our ward's Fathers and Sons overnight campout. Nick stayed home with me because he had football Friday night and Saturday morning. They had so much fun! They went up to the Call's ranch where they got to ride horses.Besides horses and eating they took up our movie projector and Dan showed the movie National Treasure II on the screen outside. They had good Dan/Brandon bonding time (something about drink runs to the store numerous times??? Dr. Pepper was needed!)They took our new neighbor Brian with them (he doesn't have kids, yet) and they all had a great time. They came home dirty but happy.
Nick and I missed them but they had a really fun time!

First Day of School

I know we always say it but I can't believe how fast the summer flew by! Today was the first day of 5th grade for Nick and 11th grade for Brandon. They both had so much fun this summer neither one of them was ready to go back! Nick had great hopes that school would not start today due to a power outage that lasted until late into the night last night. The power was out for about 7 hours and Nick really hoped it would still be out when he woke up this morning! But the power finally came on about 11:30pm. I thought Gus was going to be sad to see the boys leave this morning but I think it was too early for him. When I came back from Nick's school I found him sound asleep in his crate. As I am writing this at 10am he is still asleep in there! We leave the crate door open in the day and he loves to go in and out.

I went down with to his school Nick and went in and helped his teacher for a few minutes. Those schools are SOOO hot! No air conditioning and today the temp is supposed to be 100 degrees! It was only 9am when I was there and I was sweating by the time I put name tags on the front of all the desks and left. Each teacher has multiple fans and every child brings a bottle of ice water but that only can do so much. Especially by the time they run around outside at lunch and recess and its afternoon! YUCK! Luckily the temperature is supposed to drop tomorrow to about 85 degrees but it will take days for that school to cool down. Think cool thoughts for the hot kids!

I hope everyone has a great week!

Quick Little Update

Brandon got his license yesterday!! Now that does not mean he is going to drive by himself yet. He is getting there but we are not ready to let him loose on the world yet! He needed his license to be officially working at the golf course so we went ahead and let him get his license. Now for lots and lots of practice!

School starts Monday for the boys and I go back to work the day after Labor Day. Back into a schedule is what I always need after the relaxation of summer!
Enjoy!

Breaking Dawn Party

Hi Everyone! I was having camera issues the night Breaking Dawn came out (actually I forgot the memory card at home in the computer - aahhgg!!) So I have been waiting for my fellow Twilight Moms to post their pictures so I could steal them to show you here! We had such a great night together starting with a dinner (thanks Heidi for planning the fun night!) and then moving on to the Sandy Barnes and Noble where we got to volunteer our time in exchange for getting our books first at midnight and being out the door! Considering there were going to be people still there getting their books until after 3am that was a great deal! I had the fun job of handing out wristbands at the door for those who were purchasing books. Thanks to Heidi and Amber for making it so much fun!! There were soo many people there! Heidi got an e-mail saying the Sandy store sold the most books in the Salt Lake Valley - I believe it because I know how many wristbands we handed out!

Here is where we started at the dinner.

Here's our very own Rosalie, Alice and Victoria! Luvlee (far right as Victoria) won as the best dressed contest - way to go! Amber, Heidi and I handing out wristbands at the door (and Jeni in the background!)

Here is one view of the crazy madness at the store as the clock ticked down to midnight. It's almost midnight and we were at the front to get our books!
Thanks to those of you (Amber and Cami) who shared your pictures so I could share them here! Now we look forward with great anticipation to the movie!!

WOW!!! **no spoilers**

Reading this book involved every emotion out there and it was wonderful!!! I won't comment yet on what happened to avoid any spoilers but Breaking Dawn was wonderful and ended beautifully. It was crazy - I got my book at midnight Friday night/Saturday morning with Jeni and Jamie and HUNDREDS of others at Barnes and Noble in Sandy - thanks to Heidi for the wonderful party and allowing several of us TMs to be a part of the madness that night! Luvlee, I am so glad you won the contest - you WERE Victoria!! I finished the book last night (Sunday) at about 1:30am. I loved it and now can't wait to read it again at human speed (as opposed to the vampire speed I read it at the first time - all 756 pages!) The second time of any of the Twilight books is always the best for me because I read so many things I missed the first time. For those of you who are thinking the Twilight craze will die down, not EVEN close! Only 129 days until the movie comes out!!

Breaking Dawn, the 4th book in the series comes out at midnight tonight and I will be there to get my hands on the hugely anticipated book with my niece and my sister in law. YEA!!! I have the wristband on my wrist as we speak. Today I even got the Godiva Chocolates for Breaking Dawn.
