Brandon Turns 16!!

I can't believe it! Brandon turned 16 this week. So this blog will be dedicated to celebrating Brandon. First a list of Brandon's favorites:

Sports Teams:

Football Pro: Carolina Panthers
College: University Of Utah

Basketball Pro: Utah Jazz
College: University of Utah

Baseball (Pro Only): Atlanta Braves
Most despised sports team - ANYTHING BYU, with a passion!!! He once at age 10 tried to burn a BYU sweatshirt in the backyard that I had gotten as a prize and was SO mad when we wouldn't let him! (So no logo here - we would have to burn the computer.)

Favorite Color: Red

Favorite Food: Cheeseburgers

Favorite Restaurant: Red Robin

Favorite Candy: Reese's Peanut Butter Cups

What he wants to be when he grows up: sports medicine doc

Favorite team sport to play: basketball

Favorite individual sport to play: Golf, his latest passion

Brandon tried out for Troubadores (the men's singing group at his high school) a couple of weeks ago and made it! I always told him he was a good singer and now he proved it. I thought he was incredibly brave just to try out! His only singing experience to that point had been hymns in church and some enthusiastic shower singing. He did great and we are very proud of him.

His next goal is to make the high school golf team so he is working hard to improve his game.In order to support his new golf habit he has gotten a job umping for the baseball little league in our neighborhood. This year he is old enough to ump behind the plate and really enjoys it.

I told Brandon he actually had a birthday extraveganza this year - celebrating went on and on! First Grandma and Granddaddy flew out from Atlanta the weekend before to celebrate all our April birthdays with us.We went out to dinner at Rodizio Grill and then they loaded Brandon up with the golf extras that he wanted. For his actual birthday with the 4 of us we went to Ruby River and had steaks. Brandon got Guitar Hero from us for his birthday and he is getting really good! We also had a big family get together with our Utah family and ate cake.

THEN on Friday we had somewhere between 25 - 30 teenagers over for hamburgers, Guitar Hero, movie and hanging out. They seemed to have a good time and Brandon was happy.

We are so proud of Brandon. He really is great. He works very hard, does great in school and in spite of a few teenage moments here and there really is fun to be around! He makes me laugh all the time. He has great friends! I love that we don't worry about who he is with or what they are doing, they are making great choices and working hard to be good kids. Today Brandon was ordained a priest at church so that brings on all new responsibilities and we know he is ready for them. We love Brandon very much and are so proud of the example he is setting for all of us!

New Carpet!!

Well, as I have been reminded I have not updated our blog for quite a while. Mostly because there was not a whole lot to say! But now I am so excited to post the picture of our new carpet! It was a long time coming and DESPERATELY needed! It feels so soft and squishy to walk on and we love it. Besides that baseball is starting and spring is about to happen! The forecast is for mid to upper 70's for next week and after a winter of SNOW SNOW SNOW I can't wait. Have a great Thursday!
