It has been so long since I updated my blog that it may seem a little confusing - so here goes! The end of school went well, we were ALL ready for summer! The big plan for the summer was to be a driving trip to Atlanta to spend 3 to 4 weeks there. Well, gas prices being what they are we had to scrap that idea (so sad!!) so we decided to go ahead with another plan that had been in the back of our minds for a while. We got a puppy!

As most of you know I am allergic to dogs so Hershey lives the majority of his life outside. We have always hated this but there is no choice. So we decided to get a "hypo-allergenic" dog - yes there is such a thing. We went up to Heber and brought home the cutest little puppy - a shipoo. He is half shih tsu/half toy poodle. He actually was Nick's birthday present and weighed a whopping 3 1/2 pounds the day we brought him home. His name is Gus!

He now is up to 4 1/2 pounds and will probably be between 7-8 pounds when he is full grown. It is like having a baby again! But Brandon and Nick are both old enough to be responsible and take care of him. They are doing a great job with him and that makes the puppy stage pretty easy. He is one loved (and spoiled) puppy! He has to be right with us at all times! And he prefers body contact anytime anyone sits down. Housebreaking is almost done and he knows how to sit. Pretty good for 12 weeks old.
We also decided to go camping up at Smith and Morehouse in the Uintah Mountains the week of July 4th. It was so much fun!

We had the perfect campsite and Dan brought our little kayak up to use on the reservoir.

Of course Gus went with to have his first camping experience. Hershey has already been with us several times so he stayed home. The boys all went fishing and were able to catch 4 trout.

The weather was great, just a little chilly at night.

We may try and go back up for the July 24th holiday. In Utah we celebrate Pioneer day, the day the pioneers came into the Salt Lake Valley way back when and it is a state holiday.
The boys and I went to the Hogle Zoo a few weeks ago with a group of my friends. We hadn't been in a long time and I forgot how fun the zoo is! It was really hot but there is lots of shade so it was okay.

Nick went to several sports camps this summer. He started with basketball camp over at Skyline High School for a week, then football camp up at The University of Utah.

Dan had the chance to go and help at the camp. I think he may have had more fun than Nick! That same week Nick went to golf camp. This week he went to football camp again over at Skyline HS. Brandon has been very focused on golfing! He has been golfing all summer and has been working up at Mountain Dell Golf Course

(located up the canyon on the way to Park City). It is a beautiful course and he loves it. It helps that he gets to golf for free and take a golf cart for free as an employee perk. He has a couple of friends that work up there and they all love it. Mountain Dell is the home course for the Skyline HS golf team so Brandon hopes the time spent up there will help with his tryout for the team next month! When he is not golfing he is either sleeping or having fun with his friends - he is very good at being a teenager! He also is growing so fast!! In the past 6 months he has grown 5 inches and put on over 20 pounds! Now I have to look up to him and he totally enjoys it.
Because I work at an elementary school I have the summer off. I spend my time driving boys around, chasing a puppy and trying to read my Twilight books one more time before the next one, Breaking Dawn comes out on August 2nd and trying to take it easy!
One REALLY fun thing that Nick and I did last week was to go to the American Idol Tour concert! It was so much fun!

We went with my sister-in-law, Jeni and 2 of my nieces, Jamie and Jenna and Jamie's friend Kiley.

My nephew Marshall was able to get us box seats at the E-Center and it was a blast! Definitely the way to see a concert! Everyone that sang sounded great but the two Davids -Archuleta

and Cook (the winner)- are definitely the stars of the show. David Archuleta is from SLC and when he came out the place went crazy!!! I have to say thought that the best performer was David Cook.

He knows how to put on a show!
Now it is time for football to start - I can't believe how fast the summer has flown by! Dan will be coaching Nick's team again. They both love it which is good because it takes a lot of time and is a lot of hard work! Tomorrow is our registration day and then we will be heading up to Lagoon (amusement park/water park) with Dan's whole side of the family. It will be a fun day and we are looking forward to it.
I hope everyone's summer is going great, too! I'll try and get back on track with my posting. Have a great weekend!
